Award-winning singer and composer will take to the stage at Gartmore Village Hall supported by Aberfoyle based traditional music group Abtrad.
Kim Carnie, has featured on some of the UK’s biggest stages as well as across the world via film and computer game soundtrack, from Netflix’s 'Outlaw King’ and ‘Black Mirror’ to Hallmark’s ‘A Scottish Love Scheme’. Since launching her solo career in 2018, Kim has become one of the most sought-after singers and session vocalists that Scotland has to offer, having worked with producers such as Jim Sutherland (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), Donald Shaw (Capercaillie) and Ged Grimes (Simple Minds). In 2019 and 2020, she joined bands Mànran and Staran, respectively, as lead singer.
In 2024, Kim was honoured when invited to join the prestigious Transatlantic Sessions tour (2024) led by MD and sixteen-time GRAMMY award-winner, Jerry Douglas. The tour saw Carnie take to stage with country royalty, Carlene Carter (daughter of June Carter Cash), and folk and bluegrass stars Lindsay Lou and Joshua Burnside.
2022 saw the release of her debut album ‘And So We Gather’ winning the German Critics Choice award and was shortlisted for MG Alba’s Album of the Year. Recognised as one of the 'biggest folk and Gaelic records of the generation’, Kim brought together some of the biggest names on the Scottish music scene, from Julie Fowlis to Donald Shaw. The ‘debut masterpiece’ also celebrated her love for world-music, featuring Senegalese Kora player Kadialy Kouyate and award-winning saxophonist Matt Carmichael.
The 2021 Gaelic Singer of the Year recipient, Carnie is also a widely respected composer, and has been commissioned to compose music for the Edinburgh Storytelling Centre, the Blas Festival, Piping Live as well as multiple computer-game companies and has recently released a documentary called Kim Carnie Out Loud reflecting on the impact that a secret six year same-sex relationship had on her.
This event forms part of Stirling Pride’s Rural Tour which is made possible by funding from the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.
